HEALTH EDUCATION AND MATHEMATICS!
This week in Health we discussed three different types of calories we eat!
These calories included: Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats
FUN FACT!
Here's how many calories are in 1 gram of each:
carbohydrate = 4 calories
protein = 4 calories
fat = 9 calories
Use your math skills to COUNT YOUR CALORIES!
HOME ACTIVITY:
Examine your dinner tonight!
What are you eating?
STEP ONE:
On a sheet of looseleaf paper, write down what you are eating for dinner.
As well as writing your food down, practice your pronunciation!
STEP TWO:
Research the foods you are eating for dinner. Find out how many grams of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats you are eating.
STEP THREE:
Once you have found out the amount of grams you have for your carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, calculate your calories!
(Remember to use the information chart at the top of this page to calculate your calories!)
Assignment due Friday, May 1, 2012.
Modified instruction to enrich learning is highlighted in yellow.
Standards:
MACC.K.OA.1.1: Represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images, drawings, sounds (e.g., claps), acting out situations, verbal explanations, expressions, or equations.
